O Jeremiah (The Prophet Jeremiah, God, and Government)

O Jeremiah
(c)2012 Bill Bledsoe ChurchThePeople.com

O Jeremiah
I still see the ruins of Jerusalem
Through the tear stains in your eyes
I still hear the cries

I feel your pain
As you watched your nation crumble
In a war
Where God was on the other side
No where to run
No where to hide

O Jeremiah
Your people
The country that you loved
Once so alive
Slowly died
From inside
Til it was gone

God moves
And sometimes God moves on

O Jeremiah
I still see you jailed and beaten for God's Word
Spoken to your preachers and your kings
Who thought they were smarter than God

I hear you pray
God why won't they listen
Til you knew
It wasn't you
But God
That they didn't want to hear
They closed their minds
And then they closed their ears

O Jeremiah
Too many took more than they gave
Til there was nothing left to save
When the parents sin their children pay

O Jeremiah
Your people
The country that you loved
Once so alive
Slowly died
From inside
Til it was gone

God moves
And sometimes God moves on

Only God alone is holy
Only God alone can save
Only God alone is worthy
Of a life a faith

Temples and governments
Envy and greed
And all our other idols
Can't save us
In our time of judgment
In our time of deepest need

O Jeremiah

O Jeremiah
Your people
The country that you loved
Once so alive
Slowly died
From inside
Til it was gone

God moves
And sometimes God moves on

O Jeremiah
Your words from God
Your life of faith
Live on
