Texas Prodigal
©2012 Bill Bledsoe
Stop him / she said / He just bowed his head
He knew / there's nothing they could do
Off drove their son / towards the settin' sun
Tradin' in his home / for some fun
You can't just drive your way out of Texas
No road is long enough / to leave a Texas family's love
You can't just drive your way out of Texas
No matter where you go / Texas has your soul
And Texas / calls you home
O Lord / You know it's true / They did all they could do
They raised him right / and prayed he'd see the light
They trusted the Lord / and watched their front door
Prayin' God would bring him home tonight
You can't just drive away from Jesus
No road is long enough / to leave the Savior's love
You can't just drive away from Jesus
As far as this life strays / Jesus seeks to save
And Jesus / calls you home
Sometimes we don't hear / when God's voice is clear
Sometimes we don't hear / 'cause we stop up our ears
Sometimes we choose pain / when God offers joy
Til pain is all God has / to reach a Texas boy
You can't just drive your way out of Texas
You can't just drive away from Jesus
You can't just drive your way out of Texas
No road is long enough to leave a Texas family's love
You can't just drive away from Jesus
As far as this life strays / Jesus seeks to save
And Jesus / calls you home
